A Mysterious Prologue

    If you were to simply look at Elaina, Rebecca, and Gabrielle, you would see nothing more or less than three girls, much like any other group of three friends anywhere else. You would hardly spare them a second look, unless they were doing something particularly odd. They blend in with the crowd, look totally average.

    You would never guess what they were about to do and see. Never would it cross your mind that those three young women would soon run across something so strange and terrible, something so violently out of place in everyday life that it would alter their personal timelines, twist time and space, and tear the fabric of reality enough to-

    I'm getting ahead of myself.

    Like any story there is a sort of beginning and an end to these events, and I am burdened with the glorious purpose of relating this baffling and wonderful tale to you. This tale about three apparently unremarkable girls. You'll have to bear with me, hold my hand, take a deep breath and just trust me because it gets a bit wibbly-wobbly in places. But I promise it will be worth it.

    As far as anyone else is concerned this story never happened.

    But it did.

    Or did it? (I told you, wibbly-wobbly.)

    Whether this story really happened or not (I suppose it all depends on what you're willing to believe), I hope you might take a moment, the next time you see someone totally ordinary, and think about what they might really be.

    That person waiting for a bus, working the register at a coffee shop, walking their dog, shopping in the grocery store, or driving past in their car might just be more than they seem. It's entirely possible that they may have had afternoon tea with a sociopath, run across a rainbow bridge, or even sat watching while entire galaxies were swallowed by black holes.

    But we aren't talking about them. We're talking about these three girls and what they have done or will do or might never have done ever at all.
