RBS Rolling Thunder by Redfeathyrs RBS Rolling Thunder by Redfeathyrs
Wren's mother had told her that the new horse was scheduled to arrive while she was at school, so she shouldn't expect to see him unloaded. But, when the teenager got home from school, there was an unfamiliar horse trailer in the dirt driveway.

She ran the whole way down the long driveway, almost falling several times. When she arrived beside the trailer there was no one around. Curious, she climbed up onto the wheel well and grabbed the bottom of the small window along the top of the trailer. With a grunt, trying not to kick the side of the trailer, Wren pulled herself up and peeked inside.

It was empty.

Disappointed, she dropped back down and hopped off the wheel well.

"He's over here." Someone called. It was Wren's mother, Rachel, and she was over by the corral, behind the house.

Wren ran around the house and saw a handful of people standing beside the corral, watching the horse inside.

He was a beautiful young stallion, trotting around the corral, showing off. His name was Rolling Thunder, and he was a member of a very new breed Wren and her mother had seen at a summer horse show. He was called a Ceimard; Rachel had been impressed by the breed's founding stallion, Snapdragon, and bought Rolling Thunder that day. Wren had never seen him until now.

She leaned against the fence between her mother and one of the farm hands.

"He's beautiful!" Wren smiled, wondering what it might be like to ride him.

"He knows it, too. He couldn't wait to get out and start showing off." Rachel laughed.

My bid to get one of :icontopcreek:'s adoptables. :la: She created the Caimard breed, and just created a page of adoptables. She's picking owners for each of them on January 1st, so I hope to get this boy!

Sorry for the long post. But y'know. ^^;

I tried grayscale shading with this one, since I liked how ~FlareAndIcicle shaded her horses. It turned out to be a pain to work out (the tutorial I used was for PS and I use SAI) but I like how it looks. :D I might use these for horse refs, at least.

Special thanks to :iconjockeyy: for the grayscale shading tutorial! [link]

O.O Wow. Red, you did just amazing on this! :squee: He's a beauty! My favorite part is his tail. >w< It's so gorgeous. He's gorgeous. (I have to keep mentioning that. :lol:) I love the little moon like crest between his eyes.
Beautiful job on the shading too!
I like the little story too. >w<

One thing I hope you don't mind me saying, his front right leg seems a teensy bit short. Could be just me, since I'm used to seeing drawings of horses with their muscles more pronounced making their legs seem longer... ^^;
But anyways... Gorgeous! :squee: (I must keep saying it. :giggle:)

:la: Thank you! I'm really proud of it, for a change.
His tail is my favorite too- when *topcreek posted a drawing of the breed's founding stallion my first thought was 'I love that tail'. :love: It's just so unique.

Thanks- the shading is so far from what I usually hear (shadows/highlights are not straight black/white, etc) that it was weird to do, but I like the result.

It could be that. X3 This breed's legs are leaner than some, and I simplified the muscles a bit since I didn't want him looking too muscular (like the scary/hilarious pegasus from MLP). But it could be a little short. I haven't drawn horses seriously in a while so the anatomy is a bit shaky.

Thankya again. :hug:

You're welcome! :la:
It's most certainly unique.

Interesting, I'll have to look up that tutorial you mentioned.

Ahhh... :D (XD That pegasus scares me.) Well, I don't draw horses, so I could be just wrong. >w<

You're welcome again. :hug:
