Wren's mother had told her that the new horse was scheduled to arrive while she was at school, so she shouldn't expect to see him unloaded. But, when the teenager got home from school, there was an unfamiliar horse trailer in the dirt driveway.
She ran the whole way down the long driveway, almost falling several times. When she arrived beside the trailer there was no one around. Curious, she climbed up onto the wheel well and grabbed the bottom of the small window along the top of the trailer. With a grunt, trying not to kick the side of the trailer, Wren pulled herself up and peeked inside.
It was empty.
Disappointed, she dropped back down and hopped off the wheel well.
"He's over here." Someone called. It was Wren's mother, Rachel, and she was over by the corral, behind the house.
Wren ran around the house and saw a handful of people standing beside the corral, watching the horse inside.
He was a beautiful young stallion, trotting around the corral, showing off. His name was Rolling Thunder, and he was a member of a very new breed Wren and her mother had seen at a summer horse show. He was called a Ceimard; Rachel had been impressed by the breed's founding stallion, Snapdragon, and bought Rolling Thunder that day. Wren had never seen him until now.
She leaned against the fence between her mother and one of the farm hands.
"He's beautiful!" Wren smiled, wondering what it might be like to ride him.
"He knows it, too. He couldn't wait to get out and start showing off." Rachel laughed.

My bid to get one of
She created the Caimard breed, and just created a page of adoptables. She's picking owners for each of them on January 1st, so I hope to get this boy!
Sorry for the long post. But y'know.
I tried grayscale shading with this one, since I liked how ~FlareAndIcicle
shaded her horses. It turned out to be a pain to work out (the tutorial I used was for PS and I use SAI) but I like how it looks.
I might use these for horse refs, at least.
