The river flowed peacefully, at odds with the chaos behind them. Sparra's paws churned in the cool water, pulling herself and the human girl along without a sound beyond the bear's heavy breathing, and the girl's stifled sobs.
If the others could see me now...they would weep. Sparra thought miserably. To carry a dirt-blooded human on her back was a disgrace to the warrior line Sparra was bred from.
Behind them on the island, fires licked at the sky, dancing in their own light, while the broken beams and struts of the shelters poked out of the ashes and smoke like bones. The bear didn't need to look back- she would never stop seeing it.
The girl took a shuddering breath and tried to stifle her sobs.
Proud warrior or dirt-blooded child, it hardly mattered now. Sparra swam on.

I wanted to test out some paper I heard was good for blending. So I sketched a thing. Then I lined and colored that thing. This is that thing. *plot twist*
Her hair. My gosh her hair. It was supposed to be darker. But I think it looks okay. At least semi-hair like.
That bear probably should have more detail. Herpderpderp.

I think you did a great job with her hair! 
Trust me when I say I can't draw AT ALL, so I'm always in awe of those who can. I love Sparra's facial expression, it's sombre but there's something else in it that just looks so done.
